May 7 Brunch, Brunch, Brunch!

It always starts with a phone call or text, “will you help me with…”

I’m the guy my family and friends call when they need help with recipes or anything food related. And I love it! I’m always happy to help friends plan their get-togethers… menus for dinner parties, holiday party ideas, cocktail parties, something for Mother's Day, etc. But my favorite parties to help throw are brunch parties. An impromptu gathering of friends and family on the weekend to catch up and have some laughs.

I like to keep things fresh and light. Two weekends ago we decided on toasted sandwiches with tomatoes, mozzarella and pesto béchamel, a large salad with Spanish ham, and a ginger lime fruit salad. Served on large platters and passed amongst friends.

We spent the late morning cooking, laughing and drinking mimosas. Making the food fun and casual will put your guests at ease. Having your friends and family over should be enjoyable and stress-free. They won’t mind a little mess in the kitchen or helping out with drinks. Do as much as you can ahead and enjoy your party.

I realize that hosting can feel intimidating, but with a simple and beautiful brunch menu and a relaxed mindset you’ll be enjoying the accolades – and the mimosas – in no time.
